Overview
We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior/Principal/Chief Geotechnical Engineer with strong technical credentials and a particular focus in advanced geotechnical analysis and offshore geotechnics to support our increasing workload in the UK and globally.
Atkins Réalis has an impressive portfolio of prestigious geotechnical projects and we need to increase our team to meet the growing demands from our clients, especially in the infrastructure sector (particularly rail, highways & water) and the energy sector which includes carbon capture & storage, renewable energy, low‑carbon engineering and nuclear power.

Your role
Lead complex geotechnical projects with minimal supervision, work in a technical review function and support Atkins Réalis' colleagues to increase their understanding of advanced geotechnical principles and offshore geotechnics. Play a pivotal role in both the Offshore Geotechnics and Numerical Modelling Technical Disciplines, ensuring that Atkins Réalis continues to push the envelope of our geotechnical design and modelling capability.
About you
* A good academic background with a relevant degree, ideally an MSc or PhD.
* Proven geotechnical analysis and design experience, with offshore sector experience.
* Experience in leading offshore design, including foundations (monopile, jacket, suction caissons), driveability, cable burial trench ability and deep‑water anchoring.
* Detailed understanding of advanced constitutive soil models, parameter selection, soil‑structure interaction and experience with numerical modelling software (FLAC, PLAXIS 2D/3D, etc.) plus standard geotechnical software.
* Experience in validation of geotechnical numerical analysis and model calibration.
* Experience in managing the process of geotechnical numerical analysis within an interdisciplinary project environment.
* A desire to drive digital innovation and further Atkins Réalis' capability in offshore geotechnics and advanced analysis.
* Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with clients and engineers from other disciplines.
* Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self‑check and produce accurate work.
* A willingness to travel on short assignments within the UK and overseas.
* Working towards or holding Chartered status.
* A valid UK driving licence.

Security clearance
This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. The vetting process is delivered by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and may require proof of residency in the UK for 5 years or longer.
