Overview
IT Development Technician (Fixed Term until 31 March 2026) - PKC13018. Salary £27,836 - £30,295. Carpenter House, Perth, PH1 5GB.
An opportunity has arisen for someone who has recently graduated or qualified in a relevant ICT discipline (HNC minimum). The successful candidate will assist technicians and engineers who provide ICT technical support to the Council. During the term of the post support and guidance will be given to ensure the post holder develops their technical skills and these will be regularly assessed. The successful candidate will be flexible and may be asked to support a number of projects/workstreams including hardware installs, desktop rollouts, VOIP telephony rollout and equipment audits.
Responsibilities
* Assist technicians and engineers in the installation, configuration, maintenance and support of ICT equipment, peripherals and standard software.
* Provide first line support to log, prioritise and resolve incoming user queries and faults via an IT Helpdesk.
* Assist in the maintenance of the Council's ICT asset register.
* System data input and undertake other duties allocated as required.
* Provide written and oral progress reports when requested.
Skills & Experience Required
* Interest in applying/ developing IT support skills and knowledge; highly motivated, good team worker and capable of taking responsibility for challenging workloads.
* Educated to HNC level in an appropriate discipline.
* This is a development role; demonstrate a flexible approach and willingness to develop skills and knowledge over the length of the post; be prepared to take personal responsibility for own professional development.
* Working within a team to support ICT infrastructure projects and ICT service delivery.
