What's involved with this role: Job Title: Markets Admin Officer Ref: Bristol 5275995 Pay rate: £16.91 per hour PAYE Role length: Anticipated 6 months Working arrangements: 3 days per week – Wednesday, Thursday and Friday The role: We’re looking for an individual, with finance experience and strong excel spreadsheet and data skills, who will be responsible for the effective day-to day function and development of the Council's Markets Service. You will be leading on a multitude of officer jobs so you will need strong administration skills with a strong focus on finance and data. Key responsibilities: Provide a professional, knowledgeable and practical response to public, trader and stakeholder enquiries for information, market trade and event applications Support the Markets Manager/Deputy Markets Manager in providing effective function and control of the service area, including ensuring delivery and compliance with industry policies and procedures, licence agreements, contract conditions and markets and event legislation and function Liaise with communications team to provide effective communication and marketing of markets activities - customer surveys, web page development and maintenance, developing and delivering marketing strategies and campaigns, using digital communication channels, promotional material, social media and online public liaison Manage and carry out financial management tasks related to all markets, estate activities and concessions, including account creation and ongoing management, preparation of financial reports and record maintenance in accordance with audit requirements Ensure compliance with the markets service procedures and processes, including licence issues, event activities, trading agreements, review and production of risk assessments and emergency procedures, creating and maintaining records and other associated tasks What the client is looking for: A finance-savvy professional with strong Excel and data analysis skills Proven administrative experience with the ability to manage multiple officer-level tasks Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly in financial record-keeping and reporting Confident in managing public, trader, and stakeholder enquiries with professionalism and clarity Knowledge of market trade and event application processes, including compliance with policies, contracts, and legislation Ability to support the Markets Manager and Deputy in the operational delivery and control of the Markets Service Experience working within frameworks such as licence agreements, event regulations, and service procedures Comfortable collaborating with communications teams to develop and implement marketing strategies and promotional content Skilled in using digital tools, websites, social media, and other channels to support market promotion and customer engagement Familiarity with financial management tasks including account creation, audit-compliant record keeping, and report preparation Understanding of risk assessments, emergency procedures, and general event/activity operations How to Apply: Quote the Job Title and Reference Number in your application.
