Malvern College seeks an enthusiastic and skilled Percussion Teacher to join our vibrant Music Department from September 2025. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality individual tuition across a range of percussion instruments, including tuned and untuned percussion, and support ensemble work where appropriate.Key Responsibilities• Provide one-to-one percussion tuition to pupils of varying ages and abilities• Prepare pupils for ABRSM, Trinity, or Rockschool exams as appropriate• Support and lead percussion ensembles or sectionals as required• Contribute to concerts, recitals, and school events• Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and lesson planning• Liaise with the Director of Music regarding pupil progress and scheduling• Encourage a love of music and performance in all studentsPerson SpecificationEssential:• Proven experience teaching percussion to young musicians• Proficiency in a wide range of percussion instruments• Strong communication and interpersonal skills• Ability to inspire and motivate students• Flexibility and reliabilityDesirable:• Experience working in an independent school setting• Familiarity with ensemble direction or orchestral playing• Willingness to contribute to the wider musical life of the school• Additional Information• This is a self-employed position; teachers invoice the school directly• Lessons are typically 30 minutes in duration, scheduled during the school day• The role may include ensemble coaching or concert participation outside of normal hoursSafeguarding Responsibilities• Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons with whom you come into contact; and• Reporting any safeguarding concerns, including low level concerns, to the Designated Safeguarding Lead or their Deputy in a timely manner.• This post involves significant contact with children and the post holder will be responsible for children.
