An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Audiologist to join our Rochdale Community Audiology team. We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated and caring person to complement our existing audiology team. The Rochdale Audiology Service is friendly, forward thinking and experienced with a good skill mix. It is an innovative and dynamic service that provides treatment and advice to adults and children with hearing and balance problems.
You will provide audiological assessment, management and support to patients presenting with less complex hearing impairment and disorders in line with service requirements across the Rochdale Audiology community clinic footprint. To meet service needs, there may be a requirement to work on an adhoc basis into our other clinic sites in Oldham and Bury. There may also be a requirement to work in local schools to deliver the school hearing screening programme.
Hours of work: The service operates over the core hours of 8.00am - 6.00pm Monday to Friday.
Key Requirements of the Person Specification:
* BSc / MSc in Audiology or the equivalent professional qualification (ONC BTEC in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurements with a Professional Qualification in Audiology (BAAT Part I and II)).
* AHCS or HCPC registration
Responsibilities
* Perform audiological assessment, diagnostic investigations of hearing for adults and children, and develop individualised treatment plans in line with service requirements.
* Fit and verify hearing aid prescriptions; provide ongoing care, advice and support; and rehabilitate routine adult patients using the community boroughs computer management system.
* Assess, undertake audiological testing and determine an appropriate treatment/management plan for routine patients; select and fit hearing aids where appropriate.
* Manage and record audiological investigations and treatment plans on the community boroughs computer management system; formulate reports to other health professionals and key stakeholders as appropriate.
* Work with patients referred from GPs; seek advice or refer patients to a Senior Audiologist, Advanced Practitioner or Consultant using national and local guidelines.
* Explain diagnostic test results to patients, relatives and carers in an empathetic manner, considering communication needs of those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
