Summary
The Technology department are responsible for providing engineering services to all departments in the disciplines of Broadcast and IT. Our goal is to drive excellence through exceeding expectations as part of the ongoing growth success of the business.
The department provides the following:
* 24/7 proactive maintenance and reactive support to ensure industry leading levels of availability for a diverse range of end to end broadcast and IT systems.
* Project design, implementation and documentation to the highest standards providing reliable and resilient technical solutions.
* Collaboration with stakeholders to create and maximise efficiencies and optimised technical solutions whilst utilising existing available resources.
Responsibilities:
Cloud Engineer is a key member of the Technology team, responsible for ensuring seamless broadcast operations with a particular focus on software and cloud technologies. You will help develop, optimize and secure cloud solutions within our team. This role involves deploying, debugging, and ensuring cloud security. Success requires identifying optimal solutions, adhering to best practices, strong troubleshooting skills, industry trend awareness, and teamwork.
* Designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud and related infrastructure.
* Monitoring cloud resources for performance and cost optimization.
* Troubleshooting and resolving cloud-related and software issues.
* Develop, implement, and maintain configuration of underlying cloud services, including but not limited to AWS, CloudFront, S3, SNS, and SQS.
* Administer existing and deploy new GKE services.
* Developing scripts for deployment, monitoring, reporting, and alerts, ensuring a robust, redundant, scalable 100% uptime infrastructure.
* Analyze security threats and applicability to customer environments
* Triage and resolve technical, workflow and user issues
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement cloud solutions.
* Ensuring compliance with security and data protection policies.
* Support and troubleshooting Cloud infrastructure and On-Prem if necessary.
Requirements
* Proficiency in cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud and understand of related services including:
* Cloud networking (Direct Connect/VPN, DNS, Route53)
* Cloud security and governance (IAM, Role, Policy, MFA)
* Containerisation and orchestration with Kubernetes
* Serverless platforms and services
* Hybrid cloud architectures
* Elastic Seach, Kubernetes Cluster, Docker Technologies.
* Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash, Node/TypeScript).
* Experience of infrastructure as code development and deployment with Terraform.
* Strong problem-solving abilities.
* The ability to build, maintain and develop internal stakeholder and external vendor relationships.
* Excellent communication skills to provide technical advice, guidance and expertise on Volant systems to internal user groups as well as Project engineers.
* Self-motivated, with a passion for the job, and able to follow tasks through to the end without having to be driven.
* Ability to work cooperatively as part of a larger cross functional team
* Experience on Git/ECR/EC2 Technologies.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Understanding and command control on Linux OS.
* A commitment to continuous learning and adaptability
* Shift based hours work but flexible expectation to ensure the optimum support of the platform
