Electronic Technician (18 Months) Lisburn Vickerstock are proud to be working in partnership with a leading global technology company, at the forefront of innovation in the green energy sector, to recruit an Electronic Technician on an 18-month contract basis. This is an onsite role based in Lisburn, offering the successful candidate the opportunity to work in a multidisciplinary environment that develops class-leading diagnostic and monitoring equipment for the electricity distribution sector. The role combines hands-on laboratory technician responsibilities with the chance to expand into firmware/software system testing as part of an Agile QA team. The Role The Electronic Technician element will be the primary focus of this role, covering the setup, configuration, and maintenance of in-house designed hardware and software systems. In addition, you will support the QA function by verifying that products meet their functional and performance requirements, providing exposure to system-level test engineering and career development opportunities within firmware QA. Key Responsibilities Test, adjust, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment such as signal generators, multi-metres, oscilloscopes, oil line connections, and bottle setups. Configure units by replacing PCB boards, add-on modules, daughter boards, and plug-in boards. Ensure strict adherence to health and safety standards, including lab cleanliness and housekeeping. Carry out hands-on electrical/electronic tasks with DIN rails, wire looms, crimping, and wiring. Use Command Line and SSH to connect to units and troubleshoot system issues. Upgrade/downgrade firmware versions using multiple upgrade paths. Work within a ticketed Kanban system to manage tasks effectively. Communicate and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including international colleagues. Essential Criteria Proficiency in using signal generators, oscilloscopes, and multi-metres. Ability to read and work from Bills of Materials (BOMs) and wiring diagrams. Demonstrated ability to work independently, with strong self-motivation. Skilled in creating clear, detailed work instructions. Experience handling PCB boards and applying ESD safety measures. Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills. Excellent attention to detail when wiring, crimping, and setting up complex systems. Proactive approach to addressing issues in the laboratory environment. Desirable Criteria Electrical or electronics background. Familiarity with Agile software development life cycle. Experience with Jenkins, JIRA, Confluence, or SharePoint.
