Job Title – Production Shift Manager
Location: Thatcham, Berkshire
Salary: £42,000 - £45,000
Shift: Rotating Early & Late Shifts (Mon–Fri)
Responsibilities
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Production Shift Manager to join a well-established and growing FMCG manufacturing business operating within a high-volume production environment. Following continued investment and strong market demand, the site is expanding and offers a stable and progressive environment for experienced leaders within manufacturing.
You will be responsible for leading a production shift of approximately 20 direct reports, including operators and line leaders, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations. This is a hands-on leadership role (approximately 70% operational, 30% office-based), requiring a proactive and visible presence on the shop floor.
Structure of the Operation
* Factory Manager
* Unit Manager
* Shift Managers (x8)
* Operators & Line Leaders (approx. 20 per Shift Manager)
Non-Negotiable Requirements
* Minimum 2 years’ supervisory or management experience within a manufacturing environment.
* Proven ability to lead teams and manage shift-based operations.
* Strong understanding of Health & Safety standards.
Requirements
* Experience managing production teams and line leaders in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to ensure production KPIs and targets are consistently achieved.
* Strong knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
* Experience conducting return-to-work interviews and managing employee relations.
* Working knowledge of HACCP, hygiene standards, and food safety compliance.
* Ability to attend internal production and operational meetings.
* Strong communication and leadership skills with a firm but fair approach.
* Ability to be hands-on and support operations when required.
* Experience driving team performance and operational efficiency.
Desirable Requirements
* Strong experience working in FMCG or food production environments.
* Continuous improvement or lean manufacturing experience.

Shift Pattern
* Rotating weekly shifts:
o Early Shift: 07:00 – 15:00
o Late Shift: 15:00 – 23:00
* Monday to Friday
* 40 hours per week
