The Role
We're looking for a Financial Accountant with strong technical accounting skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to thrive in a hands-on role. Reporting into the Head of Finance, this person will be key to ensuring accurate financial reporting, audit readiness, and continuous improvement of internal processes.
This role would suit a recently qualified ACA or ACCA accountant from a mid-sized practice, particularly someone with experience auditing businesses in the £40-60m turnover range, and looking to make their first or second move into industry.
Key Responsibilities
1. Own and manage the balance sheet, ensuring reconciliations are timely and accurate
2. Post and review key journals including accruals, prepayments, and fixed assets
3. Produce monthly management accounts with detailed commentary and variance analysis
4. Support the year-end close process and statutory accounts preparation
5. Liaise with auditors and lead on audit file preparation
6. Ensure financial compliance with IFRS and group reporting standards
7. Identify and implement improvements in financial processes, systems and controls
8. Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis to support wider commercial decision-making
9. Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and other key teams
Your Profile
10. ACA or ACCA qualified - ideally trained in a mid-tier audit firm
11. Experience with audits of businesses c.£40-60m turnover
12. Strong understanding of IFRS and technical accounting principles
13. Confident with month-end processes and management accounts preparation
14. Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking
15. Proficient in Excel; experience with accounting systems such as Dynamics 365 is a plus
16. Proactive, curious, and confident in taking ownership
17. Strong interpersonal and communication skills
The Package
18. Salary: £55,000 - £65,000, dependent on experience
19. 25 days holiday + bank holidays
20. Office-based 4 days per week
