We are currently recruiting for a Technical Director to join a leading global organisation within the food sector. This is a pivotal executive role, responsible for shaping and delivering the technical, quality, and food safety strategy across an international supply chain.
About the Role
As Technical Director, you will lead the development and implementation of robust quality and food safety policies, ensuring all products meet both regulatory requirements and the highest internal standards. You will oversee technical operations across owned manufacturing sites, third-party partners, and suppliers, while acting as a key advisor to senior leadership.
You will play a critical role in embedding a culture where quality and food safety are integral to business success, partnering closely with internal teams, customers, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Define and deliver the global quality and food safety strategy, including systems, governance, and continuous improvement initiatives
* Ensure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and environmental standards across manufacturing sites, co-manufacturers, and suppliers
* Lead product integrity initiatives across the full supply chain, including supplier quality, customer care, and third-party laboratories
* Provide technical leadership in customer and supplier engagements, including contract negotiations
* Partner with regulatory authorities on compliance, product withdrawals, and recall management
* Collaborate with Legal, Investor Relations, and Commercial teams to provide technical insight and support due diligence activities
* Build, lead, and develop high-performing teams, fostering a collaborative and accountable culture
* Represent the business externally as a technical expert
* Drive innovation and continuous improvement across products, processes, and technologies
* Develop strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders
About You
* Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s preferred) in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related discipline
* Minimum 10+ years’ experience in Quality Assurance and Food Safety, including senior leadership roles
* In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations and global compliance requirements
* Proven experience managing product recalls, crisis situations, and risk assessment
* Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to engage at executive level
* Commercially aware with experience supporting customer and supplier negotiations
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis
* Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing, cross-functional teams
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience with regulatory bodies
* Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, complex environment
