Reporting to: Head of Platform Engineering, London Market

The Role
The DevOps Engineer will be a member of a Chapter which includes DevOps Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering & DevSecOps Engineering. You will also be a key member of a Platform Engineering squad responsible for continuous improvement of our cloud and on-premises platforms.
Key Responsibilities
1. Create and maintain pipelines for publishing code to Azure.
2. Oversee and coach squads in intra-day deployment mechanisms.
3. Drive DevOps principles and culture across London Market squads.
4. Coach and influence engineers to achieve DevOps maturity.
5. Oversee and direct vendor DevOps and Infrastructure resources.
6. Create and maintain Azure infrastructure across environments.
7. Propose and implement time-saving initiatives.
8. Create and maintain monitoring at all levels (infrastructure, app, data).
9. Monitor issues, availability, and ensure proper escalation.
10. Monitor performance and propose improvements.
11. Implement auto-scaling of resources.
12. Collaborate with all London Market Chapters.
13. Help commoditize cloud services where possible.
14. Identify engineering limits, bottlenecks, and tipping points early.
Person Specification
Mandatory skillset:
* Experience working as an engineer on solutions in Azure.
* Experience with Terraform and Azure Resource Management Templates.
* Experience setting up and working with Azure DevOps pipelines.
* Knowledge of cloud-native, microservices, containerized systems, preferably with Kubernetes.
* Strong desire for continuous improvement and an Agile mindset.
Ideally in addition:
* Hands-on software delivery experience, including implementation and ongoing systems administration, or build and deployment engineering with modern practices.
* Experience in identifying, implementing, and maintaining IT solutions in regulated markets.
* Knowledge of latest DevOps trends, tools, and emerging solutions, with the ability to apply them.
