Join Our Legacy of Change, Purpose and Community
At Progress Housing Group, we do more than provide homes - we create safe, supportive communities where people can live independently and thrive. With over 900 dedicated colleagues, we are proud to be a values‑led, people‑first organisation making a real difference across the region.
Looking for set hours and a better work‑life balance? We’re recruiting a skilled and dependable Multi‑Skilled Electrician to join our Property Services team on a permanent, full‑time basis (39 hours per week) - a stable role with great benefits, long‑term career development and work that makes a real difference every day.
About The Role
As a Multi‑Skilled Electrician at Progress Housing Group (known internally as a Lead Electrician), you’ll be out on site each day carrying out electrical works in our homes - responding to repairs, diagnosing faults and completing jobs right the first time.
You’ll work across both occupied and void domestic properties, completing reactive repairs and planned maintenance such as fault‑finding, replacing accessories, upgrading circuits and carrying out small installations. You’ll interact with tenants in their homes, explain what needs doing in plain terms, work safely and tidily, and keep your jobs up to date using our mobile system so the team always has a clear view of progress and next steps.
Where access needs reinstating after electrical work, you may also carry out basic making‑good (for example minor joinery or plumbing) to leave the property secure and presentable.
Every job you complete helps keep our homes safe and compliant – and makes a real, day‑to‑day difference to tenant wellbeing and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
* Carrying out electrical repairs, maintenance and installations across domestic properties
* Diagnosing faults and completing repairs efficiently and to a high standard
* Undertaking periodic inspection and testing in line with current regulations (depending on experience)
* Ensuring all work complies with BS7671 and electrical safety legislation
* Working professionally and respectfully within occupied homes
* Supporting void property turnaround to help homes be re‑let quickly
* Using mobile job management systems to update works in real time
* Taking part in the on‑call rota (currently 1 in every 20 weeks) to respond to emergency repairs
What We Offer On Joining Us
We believe that when our people feel supported, valued and developed, they do their best work. That’s why we offer a strong total reward package, including:
* Generous annual leave entitlement – so you can have time to relax and still be paid
* Company van provided for work and travel – reducing commuting costs
* Tools, equipment and uniform supplied – so you can focus on doing the job safely and well
* Testing Equipment provided – we will give you all the tools to carry out your role
* Pension scheme and employee benefits – with employer contributions and access to wider employee benefits
* Ongoing training – including electrical updates and compliance refreshers
* Clear opportunities for career progression within Property Services
* A supportive, inclusive and values‑driven workplace – where people are treated with respect and listened to
* The opportunity to make a real, visible impact in local communities – helping keep homes safe, compliant and comfortable for local communities
