What's in it for you? 30 hours per week Ongoing block booking Band 3 £12.31ph About your next employer The Support Worker will be a member of the Day Centre Team providing Day Opportunities to Adults with learning Disability using a person-centred approach. The Support Worker will primarily communicate with each service user using strategies identified by Speech and Language Therapy and the Behaviour Support Team. The Support Worker will provide personal care and manage challenging behaviour when required. Staff within the Day Centre are expected at all times to provide a caring service and to treat those with whom they come into contact in a courteous and respectful manner. What you'll do Provide personal assistance with primary needs i.e. toileting, feeding, bathing, showering. Facilitate and enable service users to participate in activities. Be responsible for the care of a group of service users in the absence of the Day Care Worker. Implement agreed individual programmes of support designed to enhance and maximise the capabilities of adults with a disability (eg Behaviour Management Programmes Support regarding personal hygiene skills, life skills, employment skills and promote enhancement of self esteem). Implement social and recreational programmes. Implement appropriate individual behavioural strategies identified by Behaviour support Team. Assist with the management and monitoring service users' personal finances. Participate in meeting the physical and personal needs of service users. Meet the needs of service users with complex /challenging behaviours by willing to be trained and participate in behavioural interventions such as MAPA. Assist with the management and administration of medication on completion of training. Participate in the assessment, monitoring and review for each client. Assess risks to clients, staff and members of the public and report to the Manager. Liaise regularly with other Day Care Staff regarding their input with the client / carer. Support people with behavioural difficulties with their travel requirements to both access the service and meet the needs identified in their individual plans. Co-work within the existing key worker system and provide support to other Senior Day Care Staff as required. Participate in existing rotas for non-residential respite service. Act as bus escort as and when required to convey clients to and from their place of residence. Be required to work across settings to encourage independence and promote community participation. About you Essential: Have at least 1 years paid / unpaid experience in a caring environment* / role AND hold NVQ Level 2 in Care / Health & Social Care or QCF level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care or Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care or equivalent/above OR Have 2 years paid / unpaid experience in a caring environment* / role * Caring environment is defined as working within a caring environment which may include Residential Care, Day Support, Supported Living, Hospital, Special School, or in one of the Allied Health Professional posts and may also include someone in the family home. This does not necessarily need to be Learning Disability specific. Currently registered or be eligible for registration with NISCC.
