Bensons for Beds is looking for a Product Development Engineer to join our Product team located at our Manufacturing site in Huntingdon.
This role is to manage our existing products and develop new products to an agreed set of parameters that include:
1. Design to price point / margin objectives
2. Design for manufacture
3. Appropriate Brand recognition
4. Accurate Labour & Material Structure
5. Value Engineering Requirements
6. Product accreditation & test standards
7. Sales / Customer driven performance & aesthetics
So, what will you do?
As a Product Development Engineer, your main responsibilities will be to reduce the complexity of products to optimise the number of SKU’s and product variety, as well as producing requisite samples to support the following:
8. New product introduction
9. Value Engineering / Cost Reductions
10. Prepare and Maintain Engineering Documentation such as Specifications
11. Product enhancement
12. Improved product performance
13. Use of new innovative materials
14. Sales campaigns
15. Product simplification / standardisation
16. To match testing criteria’s
17. Presentations / Exhibitions
You will also:
18. Maintenance of testing for new products prior to the new product launch (FR/Durability)
19. To manage the process of tick control including sample requirements (to a set of procedures agreed with the Product Development Manager & Production Manager.
20. To control revision level documentation related to product specifications on the network drive.

Who do we want?
33. GCSE maths and English at grade A – C (minimum grade 4)
34. Several years of production experience
35. You must have experience within a manufacturing environment
Nice to haves:
36. Lean Manufacturing or six sigma certifications
37. Previous experience of working to ISO
