We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established care provider for a full-time Chef to join their dedicated catering team within a modern nursing and dementia care home in Colchester. The Role As Chef, you will take a lead role in the preparation of nutritious, balanced, and appealing meals that meet the needs and preferences of residents, including those with dietary requirements. Working alongside a small kitchen team, you will ensure the kitchen operates to the highest standards of food hygiene and safety. Key Responsibilities Plan and prepare varied meals in line with residents' needs and dietary preferences Ensure compliance with food hygiene, health and safety, and infection control standards Manage stock, orders, and kitchen cleanliness Work flexibly including some weekends and bank holidays as per rota Engage positively with residents and staff, contributing to a homely, person-centred environment Ideal Candidate Qualified to Level 1 Food Processing, with Food Hygiene Level 3 and H&S certification Experience managing or supporting a successful catering operation, ideally in care or hospitality Confident understanding of COSHH, SOVA, GDPR, and infection control in a care home setting A positive, team-oriented attitude with great communication skills Hours & Benefits 37.5 hours per week (including some weekends and bank holidays) £12.79 per hour / £24,961.50 annual salary 28 days holiday (inc. bank holidays), rising with service Access to training, development, and progression opportunities Health and wellbeing support, workplace pension, and early pay access Interested?
