We recruit apprentices as a pipeline of new talent into the business who we will develop during and beyond the apprenticeship. We have apprentice-trained employees who are now in management and senior management positions. Working in a positive and productive environment, the successful candidate will train to become a fully qualified Fitter working as part of the Engineering Team. The duties and responsibilities of this role will include: Producing components using hand-fitting techniques where required. Dismantling components and equipment Diagnose faults on equipment Checking components for serviceability during overall activities Repairing and modifying mechanical assemblies Assembling mechanical components Checking that completed assemblies comply with specifications You will be required to undertake additional company training in other disciplines to further develop and complement a full skills set needed for the role. You will also undertake "in-house" training on Company specific equipment and machinery. The training you will be getting One day a week at Doncaster College and four days on site, together with additional competency-based training. You will join a structured Advanced Apprenticeship programme where you will complete Basic Engineering Training, Level 3 Technical Certificate, a Level 3 NVQ which is assessed on the job, ERR and Key/Functional Skills (where necessary). What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship The initial role, following successful completion of the course, will be that of a Mechanical Fitter at the Bogie Division, Doncaster. Future career prospects beyond that vary between staying at the Bogie Division on the shop floor or in a Technician or Engineering capacity.
