Mechanical Engineer - Mobile Role
Salary: Up to £44,000 + Company Car/Car Allowance Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Locations Covered: RAF Wyton, RAF Wittering, Carver Barracks, Bassingbourne BarracksHays is recruiting an experienced Mechanical (or M&E) Engineer to join a leading organisation supporting UK defence sites across multiple locations. The Role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will support the safe, compliant, and effective delivery of engineering and maintenance services across several MOD sites. Your work will ensure that operational standards are met, risks are managed appropriately, and engineering teams are supported with high-quality technical guidance.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver safe and compliant engineering services across multiple sites.
* Support and adhere to Safe Systems of Work, including compliance with JSP375.
* Produce high-quality Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
* Provide technical support to site teams, supply chain partners, and end users.
* Advise on engineering standards, estate safety, and asset compliance.
* Support project work and identify opportunities for improved efficiency and carbon-reduction initiatives.
* Liaise with stakeholders to ensure high standards of service delivery.
* Supervise, assess, and coach skilled people, ensuring competence and regulatory compliance.
* Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota.
* Travel between regional sites as required.
About You
* Fully qualified Mechanical Engineer (Electrical background or M&E experience also considered)
* Strong understanding of Safe Systems of Work, ideally with experience of JSP375.
* Confident in decision-making, problem-solving, and working independently across multiple locations.
* Experience supervising site operations, managing resources, and leading technical staff.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Able to obtain and maintain Security Clearance (SC).
