We are recruiting for a Senior Infrastructure Platform Manager to own and drive forward our IT infrastructure platform roadmap and strategy. You will ensure that the platforms are resilient and scalable to provide the technology foundations that support our colleagues, customers and enable the continued growth of our organisation. You will work as part of the IT department, reporting into the Head of IT, which is part of the broader Technology, Transformation and Resilience function of around 400 technology professionals

What Will You Be Doing?
The purpose of the role is to lead and oversee the management, optimization, and evolution of our infrastructure platforms. You will be responsible for driving the lifecycle management and continuous improvement of our infrastructure solutions that support our growth, security, and scalability. Key areas of responsibility include ownership of our networks, shared cloud infrastructure, datacentres and all local infrastructure within.
You will:
12. Ensure that our datacentres and IT infrastructure are well managed and fit for purpose to run our mission critical IT services, meeting the required levels of performance and resilience.
13. Own and drive our infrastructure roadmap ensuring the platforms are fit for purpose, future proofed and cost effective in support of our organisational goals.
14. Be responsible for the overall effective operation of our datacentres and infrastructure platforms, ensuring change is safely executed within these shared platforms, and that any operational risks are effectively managed and reported on.
15. Work with our Operational Resilience team to define and implement necessary resilience and disaster recovery approaches to support our regulatory requirements.
16. Lead Product Owners and teams of engineers (operating in a matrix model) to deliver against the strategic vision.
17. Champion continuous learning, mentoring teams and identifying any skills gaps to be built into relevant training and development plans.
What Do We Need From You?
You will need to have experience of leading technology teams and have a background of working with mission critical IT Infrastructure platforms. You will be able to form strong relationships with partners and suppliers (internal and external) to ensure they are delivering value and are meeting our requirements. You will operate with diligence, ensuring that key controls are operating effectively and manage any operational risks as a result of control weaknesses or events. You will be expected to define platform roadmaps that support future business needs and own and run technology selection processes at lifecycle events. You will also need the following:
18. Proven leadership of technology teams, driving technical excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
19. Experience of managing large budgets and the ability to forecast and track costs effectively
20. To be comfortable operating in a fast paced environment, dealing with often conflicting priorities, and being able to manage and influence stakeholders effectively.
21. Experience of managing supplier relationships working in partnership to derive value from the relationship
22. Strong background of operating and managing critical assets ensuring that effective asset management processes and controls are in place.
23. Experience of working with agile principles, promoting visibility of work and delivery of value.
24. A diligent approach to change management, being able to balance the need for control vs autonomy, providing governance at the appropriate level to support business change demands while ensuring critical infrastructure remains available.
25. Experience of owning and managing operational risks
26. Strategic thinking and the ability to work across teams to build a shared vision empowering engineers to achieve technical excellence.
