The Health & Safety Operative (Compliance Technician) will play a vital role in supporting the Compliance Team in ensuring building, health and safety, and property compliance across our estate. The post holder will carry out delegated compliance tasks, including but not limited to: • Routine testing and checks related to fire safety systems in line with regulatory requirements • Monitoring and supporting the management of legionella control systems • Assisting in the oversight and performance monitoring of external contractors • Responding to urgent site issues such as leaks, power outages, and fire alarm system faults • Completing minor repairs or DIY tasks as required • Demonstrating and training housing colleagues on the use of fire alarm systems and related safety equipment The role will also include providing additional support to the Repairs Team during periods of high demand. A flexible, proactive approach and a broad knowledge of building maintenance are therefore essential. Alongside practical duties, the post holder will be responsible for maintaining accurate digital and written compliance records. They will also support with site inductions for new housing staff, ensuring they understand key safety and compliance procedures. This role is a key part of One YMCA’s customer-focused service delivery. The post holder will: • Uphold the highest standards of quality and workmanship • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in line with internal standards • Demonstrate a professional, reliable approach—“saying what I do and doing what I say” • Work collaboratively with the Place & Environment Team while being confident working independently when required Due to the nature of the services provided, an enhanced DBS will be required, as will a full driving licence.
