Job summary
Leading civil engineering main contractor is seeking to employ an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Quantity Surveyor level candidate, with experience of working with the NEC contract, to join their commercial team.

This role follows the award of a long-term civil engineering framework with projects across the East of England. The team is based in London and York, requiring presence in these offices as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Overseeing financial and contractual performance of projects
* Ensuring profit targets and efficiency savings are achieved
* Administering change control, managing risks and opportunities
* Conducting compliant procurement processes and managing supply chain relationships
* Preparing and negotiating claims, managing subcontractor payments
* Attending project meetings and site visits to monitor progress
* Maintaining accurate financial logs, cost plans, and project forecasts
* Preparing monthly reports and attending cost review meetings
* Ensuring contractual compliance and governance
* Building relationships with clients and team members
* Supporting less experienced team members
Job Requirements:
* Proven success in a similar role
* Experience with NEC contracts
* Experience in civil engineering projects within a contractor setting
* Ability to work independently and prioritize
* Strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Analytical and problem-solving skills
* Resilience and adaptability
Preferred Qualifications:
* Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
* Professional membership with RICS or CICES (desirable)
* Experience with cost management software
* Understanding of Lean principles (desirable)
