1:1 Teaching Assistant | SEND | Rotherham
About the Role
We are looking to appoint a compassionate and committed 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our welcoming primary school in Rotherham. This role involves providing dedicated, individual support to a pupil with additional needs, helping them to access learning, develop confidence, and thrive within the classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide tailored 1:1 support to a specific pupil, following their individual learning plan
2. Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement strategies that support learning and development
3. Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil’s needs
4. Support the pupil’s social, emotional, and behavioural development
5. Encourage independence and positive engagement in lessons
6. Monitor and record progress, providing feedback to staff and parents where appropriate
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
7. Experience working with children, ideally in a primary school setting
8. Understanding of special educational needs (e.g., ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs)
9. A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
10. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
11. A good standard of English and Maths (GCSE or equivalent)
12. Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant) are desirable
