Looking for a Valuation Surveyor with extensive right to buy surveying experience
About the Role:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Registered Valuation Surveyor to carry out Right to Buy (RTB) valuations in accordance with statutory obligations and professional standards. You will play a key role in valuing council-owned residential properties for tenants applying to purchase under the Right to Buy scheme.
This role is ideal for a surveyor with strong residential valuation experience, excellent knowledge of the RTB framework, and a professional, customer-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake accurate and compliant Right to Buy valuations for residential properties in accordance with RICS Red Book standards and relevant housing legislation.
* Prepare and issue RTB valuation reports to legal and housing teams within required timeframes.
* Liaise with tenants, housing officers, and legal departments to facilitate timely property inspections and respond to valuation queries.
* Maintain detailed and accurate records of valuations, reports, and correspondence.
* Provide expert advice on RTB discounts, market trends, and potential valuation disputes.
* Represent the council or organisation at First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) or appeals, if required.
* Ensure compliance with GDPR, RICS standards, and health & safety requirements during property inspections.
* Keep up to date with legislation and policy changes affecting the Right to Buy process and housing valuations.
Requirements:Essential:
* RICS Registered Valuer and MRICS/AssocRICS qualified.
* Proven experience in residential property valuation, ideally with a focus on Right to Buy or public sector housing.
* Strong working knowledge of Right to Buy legislation, discounts, and valuation methodology.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and valuation reporting tools.
* Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle (if fieldwork is required).
Desirable:
* Experience working with local authorities or housing associations.
* Familiarity with tribunal processes and representing valuations in disputes.
* Knowledge of regional property markets and trends.
