The Role The Time 2 Talk service provides mediation interventions with young people and their parents, preventing homelessness in upward of 80% of cases.
Mediation Officers are integral to the Council’s homelessness prevention approach, working with young people, their family and other partner agencies including Children Services, resolving conflict within families and helping them to reestablish positive and supportive relationships.
You will sit within Community Housing Services managing a case load, facilitating shuttle and face to face mediation. With a clear focus on safeguarding vulnerable children and young people from early teens into early adulthood, including supporting Housing Options with young adult family lodger exclusions.
About You You will:
Have excellent communication skills resolving conflict.
Be highly organised and ensuring accurate case management recording.
Be flexible working outside normal working hours to meet the needs of the service.
Be able to build and maintain effective working relationships with other professionals and partner agencies.
Be confident and effective engaging people who may be reluctant to do so.
We are committed to personal development. If not already secured, you will be supported to secure accreditation in Mediations Skills.
The role is currently subject to evaluation for an essential car user allowance and applicants will be expected to have access to suitable personal transport.
