Faculty

Thanks to Expanding Excellence in England funding, the University of Bradford's Centre for Digital Innovations in Health & Social Care is embarking on an exciting programme of rapid growth. We are seeking an Associate Professor in Data Visualisation to support the Centre's activities in research, education, CPD, and consultancy.

Our Centre is multidisciplinary, undertaking high-quality co-created applied research that (i) informs the design and implementation of new technologies in national and international health and care systems; and (ii) explores the impact of such technologies on patients, service users, carers, and health and social care professionals. Employing theory-driven approaches for design and evaluation, the Centre's research offers an understanding of the contextual factors that impact the success of an innovation, informing both future technology design and its implementation. Research in the Centre is mixed-method, combining qualitative data that delivers deep insight with quantitative data that caters to policymakers.

Safeguarding

The University of Bradford is committed to safeguarding, protecting, and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and Adults at Risk through robust safer recruitment practices.

What You Will Be Doing

This is an indefinite position, available from August 1st, 2025. The successful applicant will undertake multi-disciplinary, high-profile research aligned with one or both of the Centre's flagship research programmes: 1) use of technology to improve decision-making and reduce documentation burden; 2) use of technology to reduce the carbon footprint of the health and social care system. Additionally, they will support the Centre's activities in education, CPD, and consultancy, contributing to the Centre's long-term sustainability.

Qualifications/Experience

You will have a PhD in Data Visualisation or related subject or demonstrate equivalent experience. Experience in securing research funding and a track record of high-quality academic publications are essential. Application of data visualisation to health datasets is particularly desirable.

We are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace. If you are excited about this role but your experience does not align perfectly with everything in the job description, please contact Andy Key, Centre Coordinator, to arrange an informal conversation with Professor Rebecca Randell. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.

Celebrating Diversity

Within digital health, there is underrepresentation of Black and minority ethnic groups and women. We are a diverse group committed to increasing diversity in the digital health workforce, and we welcome applications from individuals who represent these categories.

At the University of Bradford, we recognise and embrace diverse working styles. If you need any adjustments to our recruitment process, please speak to the recruitment team who will support you.

Additional Information

Shortlisting will be blind and based on the information entered in the application. If shortlisted, we will email you to request your CV. We are open to considering job share for this position.

If you would like to find out more or apply, please email Andy Key. We look forward to hearing from you.
