Job Description
The In-House Pensions Solicitor will be:
3. Supporting the General Counsel in developing and strengthening the legal support function
4. Drafting, reviewing and approving legal documentation to protect the business and maximise legal rights
5. Advising colleagues on occupational pension scheme matters including scheme design changes, disputes and related commercial documentation
6. Embedding robust legal frameworks and legal risk management practices across the business
7. Delivering legal training and supporting the drafting of policies and procedures
8. Managing relationships with external legal advisers to ensure a high standard of support when specialist input is required
9. Advising on the impact of legal and regulatory developments across pensions and governance
10. Supporting the business on wider legal, compliance and governance issues as needed
11. Acting as a visible ambassador for the legal team and the wider business
The Successful Applicant
The In-House Pensions Solicitor should be:
12. A solicitor or equivalent with at least 3+ years' PQE
13. Experienced in advising on and drafting defined benefit pension scheme documentation
14. Confident handling pensions related disputes and dispute resolution matters
15. Familiar with pension investments and defined contribution pension schemes
16. Commercially astute with a strong understanding of the legal and regulatory environment
17. Able to advise on commercial contracts and data protection issues
18. Comfortable working closely with senior stakeholders in a collaborative in house environment
19. Keen to contribute to legal training, policy development and continuous improvement across the business
