Planner / Senior Planner – Major Rail Upgrade Programme
Location: Yorkshire / North West (site-based 4 days per week)
Rate: £450–£550 per day (Inside IR35, via Umbrella)
Contract: 12 months initially (strong potential to extend)
Start Date: ASAP
The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Planner or Senior Planner to join one of the largest infrastructure projects in the North of the UK – a multi-billion-pound rail enhancement and electrification programme. This is a rare chance to play a key role on a career-defining scheme, upgrading transport links between major northern cities.

Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and monitor detailed project programmes (Primavera P6 experience desirable)
Work closely with project delivery teams to ensure accurate and realistic planning
Identify risks, delays, and opportunities, recommending effective mitigation measures
Produce progress updates, dashboards, and reports for stakeholders
Provide a strong site presence (expected 4 days per week) to engage with engineers and delivery teams
Support performance tracking, earned value, and forecasting
About You
We are looking for a hands-on, proactive planner with experience across civil engineering sectors such as rail, highways, water, or structures. You will be:
An experienced Planner or Senior Planner (not just a scheduler)
Organised, detail-driven, and able to communicate effectively at all levels
Strong in stakeholder engagement, with excellent command of the English language
Confident working closely with project teams on site
