About the Role
1. The main purpose of the mechanical engineer role is to be responsible for the maintenance, repair and improvement of all mechanical assets across our sites.
2. Ensure the delivery of efficient and effective maintenance, repair, problem solving and improvement of assets and their availability.
3. Work closely with operations teams, CAPEX and other maintenance groups to maximise efficiency of operational assets.
4. Use of our Computerised Maintenance Management System (SAP-PM) for raising, updating, and recording of maintenance tasks in accordance with a weekly asset care delivery plan.
5. Work with Operations, Site Management and Maintenance Planners to ensure compliance with and delivery of Plant KPI metrics.
6. Ensure adherence to plans and delivery of wider business targets
7. Any use of stock items and spare parts are recorded via the SAP-PM system and Diageo stock control processes.
8. Support Maintenance Managers & Business Leaders and act as a point of contact for asset care Manufacturing Excellence (TRACC) metric delivery at sites.
9. Lead/support workstreams that produce results in improving reliability and efficiency, whilst at the same time deliver potential cost savings to the business.
Working Hours
Shift rotation of days, backs and nights.
Key responsibilities:
10. Ensure adherence to Health & Safety, Environmental & Quality Standards.
11. Ensure compliance to maintenance regulatory standards within the area.
12. Working closely with Operations teams, Maintenance planners and Craft groups to ensure all mandatory and requested maintenance is effectively delivered with minimal impact on production, ensuring the correct spare parts are available to carry out the maintenance tasks, in accordance with a weekly/daily asset care delivery plan.
13. Respond promptly and efficiently to plant breakdown situations. Analyse, fault find and repair, then root cause problems to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum.
14. Accurately record and promptly report the outcome of maintenance issues via SAP MMS to facilitate the sharing of best practice.
15. Implement best practice processes and procedures maximising effectiveness and efficiency, ensuring a strong interface with all key relationship teams.
16. Attend/Lead all critical tier meetings at sites – represent asset care.
17. Provides feedback on mechanical improvement workstreams relative to sites or engineering. Participate with relevant stakeholders on Continuous Improvement
18. Work with Operations to develop and deliver focused improvements to drive plant uptime and cost competitiveness.
19. Train and coach colleagues as required
20. Expected to reach a level of competency associated with your role by all training in accordance with the Diageo training matrix

Qualifications/Essentials
21. HNC level qualification in engineering or equivalent experience
22. Time served Engineer with Hands-on maintenance / Engineering experience
23. Excellent analytical skills with ability to drive improvements
24. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate to all levels across the plant
25. Ability to organise a variety of tasks and prioritise self and others accordingly
26. Knowledge of Reliability Maintenance techniques
27. Experienced in data analysis, use of applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and business systems such as SAP
28. Able to work as individual but also part of team. Have meticulous attention to detail
About you
Our ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate across all levels. You will be actively engaging with partners and the Maintenance Planning Department to ensure valuable Planned Preventative Maintenance Tasks are at the core of the Maintenance Strategy. You will also be required to participate in Root Cause Problem Solving sessions.
You will be organised and self-reliant, handling your own workload and priorities while solving problems and supporting process and equipment improvement projects.
