The role As a Principal Mission Systems Engineer you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You will be required to contribute to the development and realisation of ship designs through the provision of broad technical knowledge of Weapon, Communications, Navigation Systems and onboard networks and their integration together and integration / installation into Naval Ships, with deeper knowledge in at least one of these areas. Day to day, you'll be required to act as a Technical Authority in the Mission Systems space and act as a primary liaison with Mission Systems suppliers (which may include the customer). Generate and assess the suitability of sensor and weapon suites for concept designs Specification, selection and/or management of external suppliers (component and service) as required Manage risk within the project lifecycle Objectively assess different design options This role is full time, 36 hours per week, The role is adaptable and can be based at any UK Babcock Hub which includes various sites, including but not limited to Bristol, Devonport, Rosyth, Leicester and Warrington, with hybrid working from home arrangements available. Essential experience of the Principal Mission Systems Engineer Developed knowledge across the Mission System (Communications, Navigation, Command and Control and Sensors / Effectors) ship integration space with deep knowledge in one of these areas experience in the development of mission systems physical integration on marine platforms, An ability to work within a multi-discipline team, Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Qualifications for the Principal Mission System Engineer Degree qualified, however HND/HNC level qualification in an engineering discipline with extensive experience in relevant field will be considered. Ideally hold Chartered Status but not essential Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
