Responsibilities
* As an Usher/Admin Assistant, you will provide an essential link between court users and the judiciary, delivering excellent administrative support and customer service.
* You will balance usher and administrative duties, supporting the smooth running of court proceedings.
* You will be the first point of contact for court users, interact with members of the judiciary and administrative staff, and assist with preparing court/hearing rooms and completing documentation.
* You may perform general clerical tasks to support HMCTS and work within a team with regular management support while managing your own time.
Your Skills and Experience
* Friendly and approachable manner with strong communication skills to assist court users clearly and confidently.
* Ability to multi-task, prioritise and organise own time; comfortable using IT with attention to detail to ensure accuracy of court documents and to learn new software.
* Provide help and reassurance in sometimes challenging situations, maintaining professionalism and calm.
Requirements / Working Arrangements
* Operational, customer-facing role requiring office-based work to provide HMCTS services to the public.
* Standard full-time hours are 37 per week; part-time, flexible and job-sharing patterns are considered as per MoJ Flexible Working policy.
* Part-time hours: minimum of 4 full days (7 hours 24 minutes) with Tuesday and Friday as working days.
* Occasional travel may be required to Doncaster Justice Centre for cover as needed.
* DBS Enhanced clearance is required.

* The role does not meet the eligibility criteria for sponsorship under Skilled Worker visa if you are applying for a visa for the first time (as of 22 July 2025).
* Current visa holders may be assessed under transitional provisions; successful applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK Civil Service.
