Job responsibilities
JOB PURPOSE
Individual accountability
The Care Services Director (CSD), jointly responsible with the Medical Director (MD), oversees the operational delivery of all clinical services at StCH, ensuring compliance with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and other standards. This includes supporting the Clinical Team, building external partnerships, and demonstrating commitment to the Charity objects and strategic aims.
As a member of the SMT, the CSD supports the Board, Chief Executive, and wider SMT in developing and executing strategy, including managing the annual business plan and budget. The CSD also provides strategic insights into population health and ensures systems are in place for high-quality, sustainable hospice services.
The CSD acts as StCH Registered Manager, managing inpatient services, wellbeing services, the Clinical Support Team, and the Quality and Data team, ensuring effective collaboration with external partners and stakeholders. The role includes providing support to community and medical teams.
The CSD is the senior registered healthcare professional, offering expert support and leadership to clinical staff, ensuring recruitment, development, and revalidation standards are met. The role champions a learning culture and maintains high professionalism and education standards among staff.

* Experience in strategic planning, decision-making, and stakeholder engagement.
* Financial acumen and experience managing budgets.
* Registered Manager role experience for CQC registration.
Qualifications
* Registered Healthcare Professional with active NMC or HCPC registration.
* Continuous professional development, including a master's degree in nursing or a related field.
