Job Summary
Reporting to the UK Technical Manager, the Technical Engineer will support the technical aspects of design, projects, critical power services, and quality departments. Responsibilities include technical report writing, drawing analysis for compliance with project specifications and international standards, programming smart relays / changeover controllers, designing protection schemes, calculating panel heat dissipation, DC system burdens, and supporting client technical queries. Communication lines will be established with project management, CPS operations management, and SHEQ in the UK and Ireland, managing workload to meet schedules.
What a typical day looks like:
1. Engage positively in developing company products and project execution;
2. Assist design teams with product compliance to EN / IEC standards;
3. Identify system deficiencies and implement technical solutions;
4. Review drawings and assist with technical specifications and submittals;
5. Support sales with technical queries, providing cost-effective, risk-averse solutions;
6. Produce technical reports and calculations;
7. Assist Quality Team with technical defect analysis;
8. Communicate with clients and team members to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues;
9. Manage workload to deliver tasks on time;
10. Build relationships with internal personnel;
11. Assist in employee training and development;
12. Complete tasks as directed by the UK Technical Manager.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
* Degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred, not mandatory);
* At least 5 years’ experience in Power Switchgear and Controlgear testing, commissioning, or design/support;
* GCSE English & Maths Grade 4 or equivalent;
* Basic understanding of international standards for Power Switchgear and Controlgear (advantageous);
* Personnel management and communication skills;
* Ability to write clear technical reports;
* Team player with a positive attitude;
* Proactive problem solver and continuous improvement mindset;
* Proficient in Microsoft Office;
* Understanding of electrical engineering drawings;
* Attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work under pressure;
* Availability for UK and international travel;
* Valid driver’s license.
