The team you will join deals with later life planning, such as Wills, Inheritance Tax planning advice and trust creation. This team also deals with estate administration and specialist succession advice for business owners.
What you’ll be doing
We are now seeking an assistant who can support the team in delivering excellent service to our clients. The successful candidate will provide professional, proactive support to the team enabling them to remain organised and to work efficiently and effectively.
You will be providing legal support to the fee earners with both administrative tasks and simple tasks on ongoing matters.
Your standard responsibilities will include diary management for the lawyers you work to, contacting and liaising with clients and third parties by telephone and email, audio- and copy-typing, proof reading and updating dictated work. You may join lawyers in client meetings to take notes and produce a record of the meetings. You may assist with the preparation of draft Wills, powers of attorney and standard letters of advice to clients for review and amendment by the lawyers in your team. You will deal with payment requests and with requests to retrieve or store documents.
What we’re looking for
The successful candidate will provide professional, proactive support to members of the Tozers’ Wealth Management Team, enabling them to remain organised and to work efficiently and effectively. You will be supporting a number of fee earners each of whom focus on the more complex aspects of Private Client work.
We pride ourselves on the high levels of client care that we give and anyone joining the Wealth Management Team will have our clients’ needs at the heart of everything they do. You will have a very high level of attention to detail and excellent communication skills. You will be confident in communicating with our clients and, under our lawyers’ direction, will be comfortable ensuring that clients have the information they need if our lawyers are engaged elsewhere.
What you’ll have
In such a busy team, experience of working in roles such as this would be beneficial. Nevertheless, we are open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds. You may be an experienced Wills, Trust and Probate Legal Secretary looking for the next challenge or you may have recently completed your academic studies and at the start of your career looking to build a challenging and rewarding career.
You will be very well organised and will enjoy organising others. You will have a ‘can-do’ attitude and will be happy to adapt to the requirements of the tasks facing you. You will be able to take a calm and sympathetic approach to direct contact with clients and their families.
We are looking for a candidate who can demonstrate their initiative and problem-solving skills and how they have used these in your previous positions. Attention to detail, in all aspects of your work, is essential.
An ability to work closely with team members and a willingness to work as part of a team with the aim of achieving a common goal is essential.
You will also be able to balance a variety of responsibilities and be able to manage your time and workload efficiently. An aptitude for maintaining a calm approach to work within a busy working environment will be very helpful as will the ability to communicate effectively with both colleagues and clients.
