Caretaker Working Hours: This is a split-shift role, ideal for someone local to the South Manchester area:
Morning: 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
Afternoon: 1:30 PM – 5:30 PM
Key Responsibilities:
Open and secure the school site each day (including alarm and key management)
Perform general maintenance, repairs, and DIY tasks
Maintain cleanliness and presentation of outdoor and indoor areas
Conduct regular health and safety checks
Manage contractors and oversee minor projects
Support with setting up equipment and furniture for school events
Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and maintenance tools
Requirements:
Experience as a caretaker or in a similar facilities/maintenance role (e.g. in schools, hospitals, care homes, public buildings)
Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Strong problem-solving and practical skills
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable:
Previous experience working within a school environment
Basic knowledge of building systems (heating, lighting, alarms, plumbing)
