The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department has a vacancy for a Trust Dental Core Trainee - equivalent to ST1-2 to commence asap. This post would be particularly beneficial for those doctors wishing to gain general experience in Oral & Maxillofacial in a supportive environment and develop an area of interest and expertise.
Main duties of the job
The Trust Dental Core trainee will spend the majority of their time at the New Cross Hospital where they will be attending outpatient clinics and day surgery theatres however, they will be rostered for Walsall Manor or Russell's Hall activity according to a rolling timetable.

Job description
Job responsibilities
Clinical duties of the Trust Dental Surgeon (Core level):
1. Attendance at Day Surgery and In-Patient theatre operating lists
2. Assistance in the operating theatre
3. Attendance at Minor Oral Surgery local anaesthetic operating sessions
4. Attendance at OMFS outpatient clinics (there is also scope for trainees to attend Orthodontic clinics according to their individual training needs or wishes)
5. Assessment and initial management of patients referred to the OMFS department from A+E, GDPs, GPs, and other hospital departments
6. Clerking of patients for theatre
7. Management of OMFS in-patients on the wards
8. Part of the first on-call DCT level rota

Role Requirements
Essential
9. BDS or Equivalent Dental Qualification
10. Completion of Dental Foundation Training
11. Full Registration with GDC or GMC
12. History taking and examination skills
Desirable
13. General Dentistry and oral surgery skills
14. Able to travel to meet the requirements of the post
15. Enthusiasm for participation in research and audit
