Athena Racing are expanding our technical team with the goal of winning the America's Cup, the oldest international competition still contested in any sport. We are building an agile, creative and collaborative team to compete and win at the pinnacle of the sport of sailing. We're growing our mechanical design team in support of this America's Cup challenge. This is a unique opportunity to design the components that drive the performance of our yacht in one of the world's most technically demanding sporting events.
Responsibilities
* Design a wide range of mechanical components and assemblies from initial concept through to detailed manufacturing drawings.
* Manage the full design lifecycle – from CAD modelling and drawing release to supporting manufacturing, testing, and performance validation.
* Provide hands-on support during build phases, rig testing, and on the water testing when required.
* Work collaboratively to resolve engineering challenges and deliver practical, performance-oriented solutions.
* Participate actively in design reviews, technical meetings, and team discussions.
Required skills/experience
* Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD systems, ideally CATIA V6 / 3Dx, and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
* Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, with excellent attention to detail and quality.
* Proven ability to approach problems creatively and analytically in a fast-paced engineering environment.
* Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Highly motivated, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
Desired skills/experience
* 2+ years experience working in the Marine or Motorsport sectors.
* Experience with composite structures and hydraulic systems design.
