The role:
The Account Director is responsible for managing and growing strategic customer relationships, driving sales performance, and ensuring exceptional client satisfaction. This role combines proactive account leadership, sales development, operational coordination, and strategic insight to deliver measurable business results across allocated accounts and new business opportunities
1. Serve as the primary point of contact for allocated accounts, responding promptly to customer emails, calls, and messages
2. Provide timely updates on orders, deliveries, and ongoing projects
3. Manage customer concerns, complaints, or issues and coordinate effective resolutions
4. Build long-term relationships through regular, meaningful contact and proactive account engagement
5. Gather, analyse, and act on customer feedback to continuously improve satisfaction and retention
6. Prepare and deliver quotes & proposals
7. Identify and execute upselling and cross-selling opportunities within existing accounts
8. Achieve agreed targets across allocated accounts and new business
9. Develop new sales opportunities with both existing and prospective customers
10. Maintain and actively manage the sales pipeline within the ERP/CRM system
11. Lead and participate in sales initiatives, customer events, and promotional activities to drive engagement
12. Follow up consistently on enquiries, quotations, and opportunities in line with the sales process
13. Proactively visit key customers to strengthen partnerships and uncover growth opportunities
14. Maintain accurate customer records, contact details, and communication logs in CRM
15. Produce weekly sales forecasts and conduct regular account performance reviews
16. Manage incoming sales enquiries, calls, and shared inboxes as required
17. Complete quarterly strategic reviews for each account, highlighting progress and action plans
18. Attend sales meetings and forecast reviews fully prepared with performance insights and explanations
19. Maintain up-to-date industry, product, and technical knowledge through continuous training
20. Gather market and customer insights to inform product, service, and commercial improvements
21. Contribute to strategic account planning and long-term growth initiatives
22. Support marketing campaigns, customer events, and engagement programmes
