Ornithologist - Derby Location: Derbyshire Salary: £29,000 - £42,000 per annum, depending on experience We are seeking a skilled and passionate Ornithologist to join a busy ecological consultancy in Derby. This role offers the chance to conduct field surveys, contribute to ecological assessments, and play a key role in delivering high-quality advice on bird conservation. Key Responsibilities: Carry out bird surveys across a variety of habitats, including breeding, wintering, and migratory species. Prepare detailed reports and contribute to Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and Habitat Management Plans. Provide practical advice on bird mitigation and conservation in line with UK wildlife legislation. Work collaboratively with other ecologists and support project delivery. Requirements: Experience in ornithological fieldwork and survey techniques. Strong knowledge of UK bird species, ecology, and relevant legislation. Experience producing professional ecological reports. Excellent communication and organisational skills. Relevant degree in ecology, environmental science, or related field. Desirable: Membership of professional bodies such as CIEEM or BTO. Experience with GIS mapping and ecological data analysis.
