Main duties of the job
We are looking for a clinical nurse specialist to join our dynamic interdisciplinary team to support evidence based, excellence in nursing care and provide services to children and their families to achieve self-management of their dermatological disease which can include, but not limited to eczema, Psoriasis and acne. In addition you will support nursing services in paediatric surgical dermatology procedures, biologics and Triamcinolone injection therapies .
The paediatric Dermatology service provides multidisciplinary, secondary and tertiary care to children and young people suffering with often complex dermatological disease.

Key Responsibilities
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Lead and deliver independent nurse-led clinics, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and follow-up of paediatric dermatology patients.
Undertake clinical assessments and make treatment decisions using advanced clinical knowledge and experience.
Support and help manage dermatology surgical lists.
Provide specialist advice, education and support to patients, families and other healthcare professionals.
Support service development, setting standards of care, clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives.
Act as a senior resource for clinical knowledge to nursing and multidisciplinary teams.
Line manage and mentor a team of paediatric nurse specialists and clinical support staff (depending on service).
Contribute to training, audit, research and evidence-based practice.
Work closely with the allergy team, with potential managerial cross cover when needed.
Person Specification Essential Qualifications And Experience
Registered Nurse (RN Child/RSCN or equivalent) with current NMC registration.
Significant and recent Band 6 clinical experience, preferably within paediatrics and dermatology.
Degree level qualification or equivalent experience.
Evidence of professional development and clinical leadership.
Desirable Qualifications
Non-medical prescribing qualification (or willingness to complete).
Advanced training in paediatric dermatology or relevant specialist courses. Skills and Behaviours
Interest in allergy, with some knowledge in diagnosing and managing allergies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong leadership and team mentoring ability.

Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience
Essential criteria
Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC register
Level 7 Post Grad Cert (Min 60 Credits), Master's Degree within relevant speciality or equivalent knowledge to be assessed through evidence of relevant speciality training, experience or portfolio
Specialist training / Qualification in area of practice
Provide evidence of leading learning in practice
Evidence of experience and completion of all band 6 competencies within relevant speciality
Specialist clinical skills and experience within specialist area
Evidence of change Management, leadership and innovation
Clinical experience at Band 6 or equivalent within relevant speciality
Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote learning in practice providing an excellent learning environment for all
Provide evidence of supporting / managing and supervision of a range of learnings in practice
Desirable criteria
Counselling / advanced communication skills qualification / training
Act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners / supporting challenges as needed
Experience of nurse-led care / clinics in own practice
Registered as an independent prescriber
