Job Summary
The Assistant Site Manager supports the Site Manager in the daily supervision and management of new build housing projects. The role involves ensuring that construction activities are carried out efficiently, safely, and to the required quality standards, within budget and time constraints.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in planning, organising, and controlling site operations to ensure project milestones and deadlines are met
Supervise and coordinate subcontractors and site operatives to maintain productivity and quality standards
Monitor health and safety compliance on site, ensuring all activities adhere to statutory regulations and company policies
Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports, site diaries, and progress updates
Support the Site Manager in managing resources, materials, and equipment to optimise site performance
Liaise with clients, suppliers, and consultants to facilitate effective communication and resolve any issues promptly
Contribute to risk assessments and method statements to maintain a safe working environment
Ensure quality control procedures are followed and completed inspections meet project specifications
Assist in managing budgets and controlling costs associated with site activities
Attend site meetings and provide regular updates on progress and challenges
Required Qualifications
Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) certification
Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card
Valid First Aid certification
Full, clean driving licence
Knowledge and Skills
Strong understanding of new build housing construction processes and techniques
Good knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practises
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with diverse stakeholders
Organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently
Proficient in the use of digital tools for site reporting and record keeping
Problem-solving aptitude and a proactive approach to site challenges
Working Conditions
Full-time role predominantly based on construction sites within the West Midlands area
Work involves exposure to varying weather conditions and requires adherence to personal protective equipment guidelines
Regular site visits and occasional travel within the region
Working hours typically align with standard construction site hours, with occasional flexibility required to meet project demands
