Job Description
The Finance Manager will report to the Head of Finance and provide financial leadership for a portfolio of projects within the Thames Water Framework. The role will connect the day-to-day finance functions with the commercial outputs to report clear financial performance across the portfolio. The Finance Manager will ensure financial control, provide insights on financial performance, and champion best practices and change initiatives.
The Finance Manager is expected to travel to our Project Office (currently in Camberley, Surrey) or London at least 3 days a week, with occasional travel to our Finance shared service office in Long Eaton, Derbyshire.
Responsibilities
* Support contract teams in managing financial performance, reporting, and forecasting, including preparing and reviewing the Contract Leaders' Report (CLR) in line with Group guidelines and standards.
* Ensure integrity of costs, revenue ledgers, and transaction processing (Contract Accounting).
* Perform WIP reconciliations and take actions to improve cash flow.
* Review balance sheets and manage associated actions.
* Maintain sound financial processes and controls as per Group guidelines.
* Contribute to project budgeting and forecasting, including revenue, profit, and cash flow.
* Act as finance point of contact for audits (internal, external, client).
* Lead and develop the finance team, overseeing performance management and succession planning.
* Control and report the Fee Based Cost position on each scheme.
* Drive process improvements and enhance reporting capabilities.
Qualifications
* Significant experience within a construction business.
* Experience in accounting for long-term contracts and staff cost modeling.
* Strong business partnership skills, with effective communication with senior management.
* Excellent Excel and financial modeling skills.
* Hands-on approach to operational finance, capable of managing detail while understanding the broader context.
