Case Worker

37 hours per week

At BCH we are committed to supporting residents to live safely and independently in their own homes. Our Care and Repair team plays a vital role in delivering practical housing related support for all Blackpool residents and we are now looking to recruit a Caseworker to support the service.

About the Role

This role offers the chance to provide essential casework support to vulnerable residents. You will undertake thorough assessments and provide advice and support to enable customers to remain safe and independent at home.

You will manage a varied caseload, supporting customers referred for major adaptations, home repairs and affordable warmth measures. This will involve providing support through the application process, carrying out financial assessments, coordinating works and liaising with contractors and partner organisations. You will take responsibility for progressing cases from referral through to completion, ensuring compliance with statutory grant requirements, relevant legislation and local policies.

You will work closely with families, health and social care professionals, housing teams and voluntary sector partners to achieve positive outcomes and ensure a joined-up approach.

You will be responsible for maintaining accurate case and financial records, managing workloads effectively and ensuring all funding documentation is complete prior to approval. The role also requires adherence to procedures relating to legal charges on properties, safeguarding standards and statutory compliance.

As part of the role, you will carry out home and residential visits, undertake dynamic risk assessments and identify and elevate safeguarding concerns in line with organisational procedures. You will ensure that all personal and financial information is handled securely and in accordance with GDPR.

This role offers the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable residents, working within a supportive and professional team and contributing to the continuous improvement of housing and support services in the community.

The Ideal Candidate Must Possess

* Experience of working in a customer-focused environment
* Ability to manage a varied caseload and meet timescales
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work independently with strong problem‑solving skills
* Experience of working with partner organisations
* A minimum of 3 GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English at grade 4/C or above

Experience within housing, Care and Repair, local authority or housing association services is desirable but not essential.

Any offer of appointment will be subject to satisfactory clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as a CRB check).
