We are expanding our Construction Health and Safety Team into a Compliance Team, which now includes a Building Regulations Principal Designer. The role supports the Building Safety Act and current Building Regulations across the UK, working with clients in diverse sectors.
What you will do
 * Offer advice around the Building Safety Act and Building Regulations.
 * Undertake plan checks and review designs to establish compliance for submission for Building Regulation approval.
 * Attend client and design team meetings to give professional advice regarding building regulations.
 * Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues and key stakeholders.
 * Ensure project design is completed in line with current building regulations and legislation.
 * Inspect properties and buildings at key stages of the design process.
 * Ensure output from projects is of a high standard.
 * Be aware of repeat and new business opportunities and to escalate these to senior management.
 * Maintain a growing network of contacts that adds value for the business.
 * Maintain high technical and commercial standards to deliver added value for clients.
Communication & Technical Skills
 * Written communication: end‑of‑design stage reports, building regulations trackers.
 * Verbal communication: attendance at meetings and client‑facing discussions.
 * Computer‑literate; proficient in SharePoint and other relevant technology/programs.
 * Under supervision, contribute to and develop bid submissions and fee proposals.
 * Stay current on new work opportunities and maintain existing client relationships.
 * Work closely with all firm members, whether clients or collaborators.
Requirements
 * Degree level education in a construction‑related field (preferably design) or significant equivalent experience.
 * Experience of working on multiple projects.
 * Understanding of the design and construction process with experience inspecting buildings and properties.
 * Excellent knowledge of Building Regulations, codes and associated legislation.
 * Excellent client‑facing skills.
 * Membership to RICS, CABE or CIOB.
 * Current record of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
 * Proficiency with SharePoint and related technology/programs.
