We have a fantastic new opportunity for a new Deputy Manager to join our hard-working and dedicated team. As our Deputy Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the home. You'll ensure a high professional standard of work is maintained in all aspects of the care of the children.
You utilize your skills and managerial expertise to ensure a caring environment is created and maintained, which respects and affirms children’s racial, cultural and religious identity and lifestyle. You will promote the practice of valuing diversity and equal opportunity throughout the home.
You will participate in the creation and implementation of appropriate care plans for all children and young people. You will be responsible for arranging and attending conferences and reviews concerning their care. It is essential to understand and apply the quality standards and professional practices expected of residential care staff. You will organise and facilitate residents’ meetings, allowing children and young people to be actively involved in their daily care. Managing shifts is a crucial part of your duties, ensuring that all staff receive the necessary guidance and support while working with the children and young people.
We have been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, following a 2023 inspection. This is a fantastic achievement for Birmingham Children's Trust, with many positive highlights focusing on areas including the quality of staff leadership, partnership working, safeguarding and corporate parenting.
This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham so you must reside within a suitable commutable distance around Birmingham and have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. You may be required to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, as needed.
Sadly, we do not support those who require sponsorship.
About you:
* Promoting and implementing effective strategies for anti-oppressive practices is vital.

* Experience in leading teams as you will be supervising staff. Experience in offering training, advice, and opportunities for staff development is required.

* To ensure effective service delivery, you may need to undertake additional duties relevant to your position's grade and the needs of the service, even working in other areas of the division as necessary.
* You will receive regular supervision as defined by the BCT framework from a senior staff member identified by the Home Manager. This supervision will allow you to work within established guidelines that will be subject to review.
* Planning your work to meet defined objectives is critical, and during your induction, you will be informed about the level of supervision you will receive.
