Plater / Welder
Location: Kingswinford, West Midlands
Hours:
- Monday to Thursday: 07:30 – 16:00
- Friday: 07:30 – 12:30
- 37 hours per week standard
- Overtime paid at 1.5x after 37 hours
Pay: £17.00 – £18.00 per hour (depending on experience)
About the Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Plater / Welder to join a highly skilled fabrication and machining team within a modern, ISO-certified engineering facility.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-integrity, heavy engineering projects used across critical industries including nuclear, subsea, oil & gas, mining, scientific research, and power generation.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out MIG and TIG welding in accordance with BS EN ISO 15614-1:2017+A1:2019 procedures
- Work to and maintain certification standards in line with BS EN ISO 9606-1:2017
- Fabricate heavy steel components from carbon and stainless steel (6mm – 100mm thickness)
- Assemble and fabricate structural steelwork including beams, columns, channels, and angles
- Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment safely and efficiently
- Produce welds that meet strict NDT inspection requirements (DPI, MPI, UT as required)
- Work closely with engineering and inspection teams to ensure all work meets specification and quality standards
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience in MIG and TIG welding
- Strong background in heavy fabrication and structural steelwork
- Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and weld procedures
- Experience working to BS EN ISO welding standards (or willingness to achieve certification)
- Confident using cranes, slings, and lifting equipment
- Understanding of non-destructive testing methods (DPI, MPI, UT)
- Strong commitment to health & safety and quality workmanship
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a skilled team
