Overview
Are you ready to make a real difference in the lives of patients with additional needs? Join our passionate team at the Dorset Primary Care Dental Service. This role involves delivering a combination of special care and paediatric dentistry for referred patients, many of whom have Additional Needs. You will have some management responsibilities, supporting clinical colleagues and contributing to service planning and development.
The role is based at Dorset County Hospital in Dorchester with an additional purpose-built 6-chair clinic in Poole. You will be able to arrange informal visits to discuss next steps in your community dentistry career. There is also an opportunity to provide care to patients in their homes, nursing, and care settings as appropriate.
Main duties of the job
Deliver a full range of NHS oral health services for special care adults and children with various Additional Needs and/or disabilities. Provide high-quality dental care, manage behaviour, and, where skilled, administer sedation and general anaesthesia. Apply pain and anxiety management techniques to improve patient experiences, particularly for those with Additional Needs.
Ideally, you will have advanced knowledge demonstrated by a postgraduate dental qualification and/or relevant experience in Special Care or Paediatric Dentistry. You will contribute to planning and development of services and colleagues while monitoring performance activity.
Based in one of our Dorset clinics, with occasional travel to domiciliary locations or for GA where appropriate, you will work in a supportive and specialised environment.
This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact, grow professionally, and be part of a team that values dedication and compassion.
