The Opportunity: Join the School of Computer Science and Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering at UNSW as a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in a Teaching and Research role. In this role, you will contribute to the advancement of research and education in cybersecurity and AI security, while helping to shape the next generation of cybersecurity and AI professionals. You will conduct research in areas such as security and privacy of AI systems and AI safety, adversarial machine learning, model and data privacy, secure AI deployment, LLM and agent security, and AI safety, contributing to high-impact research outcomes and the School’s growing research profile. With established strengths in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and distributed systems, UNSW offers an exceptional environment for academics who are looking to build their research profile, contribute to collaborative research initiatives, and deliver high-quality teaching. About You

You are an emerging or established academic with a strong foundation in cybersecurity and AI security, with the ability to contribute to high-quality research and teaching. You bring expertise in areas such as adversarial machine learning, AI system security and privacy, LLM and agent security, and privacy-enhancing technologies, and demonstrate the potential to build a strong research profile.

At Lecturer level (Level B), you will be developing your research profile and contributing to collaborative research activities, including competitive grant applications and scholarly publications, while also delivering high-quality teaching and supporting student learning across undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

At Senior Lecturer level (Level C), you will demonstrate an established research track record with evidence of research leadership, success in securing competitive funding, supervising HDR students, and making significant independent contributions to your field. You will also contribute to educational leadership through high-quality teaching, curriculum development, and mentoring students and colleagues.

You are an engaging educator with experience in delivering high-quality teaching and contributing to curriculum development. You are collaborative, adaptable, and motivated to contribute to a high-performing academic environment and to build strong relationships across academia and industry.

Skills & Experience

Lecturer (Level B)

* A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
* Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
* Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
* Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods.
* Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g. curriculum design and development at various levels).
* Demonstrated knowledge of industry or work-integrated learning (desirable).
* Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Senior Lecturer (Level C)

* A PhD in a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
* Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.
* Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design using a range of pedagogical approaches, development and delivery of courses and programs, at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
* Experience of implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods.
* Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence and fostering this in others.
* Demonstrated success in initiating curriculum development and improvement.
* Demonstrated experience with industry or work-integrated learning.
* Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity diversity and inclusion initiatives.
* Demonstrated track record in research with high-quality, high-impact outcomes and leadership potential.
* Experience in recruiting and supervising high-calibre students.
* Ability to work in a team, collaborate across disciplines and build effective relationships.
* Strong interpersonal and organisational skills.
* Ability to interact with the profession and industry and attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives.
* Understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, plus related policies and guidelines.
* Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to health and safety training.
