In-Person Tutor - Supporting a Year 11 Students with ASD | Farnham 15 hours per week | Monday to Friday mornings | Focus on English, Maths & Science Do you have the patience, empathy, and creativity to help a young learner with ASD re-engage with education? We are looking for a dedicated In-Person Tutor to provide 1:1 support for a Year 11 student in the GU9 area. The student has Autism and some SEMH needs and is currently learning outside of mainstream school. They are enthusiastic about science, with a particular passion for palaeontology, and would thrive with a tutor who can share and nurture this interest while also guiding them in English and Maths. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference-supporting a student to build confidence, prepare for their future, and stay motivated through personalised learning. What You'll Be Doing Delivering tailored 1:1 tuition in English, Maths, and Science (Monday to Friday mornings, 15 hours per week). Supporting academic progress while also focusing on engagement, confidence, and emotional wellbeing. Adapting teaching methods to suit the student's learning style and interests. Using the student's love of science and palaeontology as a way to spark curiosity and build cross-subject skills. Liaising with parents/carers, schools, and agencies to track progress. Keeping clear records of achievements and areas for development. What We're Looking For Background in teaching/tutoring, ideally with experience of SEN and SEMH. Strong subject knowledge in English, Maths, and Science. Ability to build a trusting relationship and make learning engaging for a student who thrives on interest-led approaches. Creativity, resilience, and patience to adapt at the learner's pace. Someone with a genuine interest in science and palaeontology would be a strong match. Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain) and safeguarding knowledge. Why This Role Matters For this student, your sessions may be the key to building both academic confidence and motivation for the future. By connecting learning to their passion for science, you'll not only help them progress towards qualifications but also inspire them to pursue their dream of becoming a palaeontologist. If you're ready to inspire a student who needs your support-and you want flexible work that truly makes a difference-we'd love to hear from you
