About the Role:
Were looking for an enthusiastic and organised Housing Assistant to join a busy Housing Team on a temporary basis. This is a hands-on role providing vital support to tenants, contractors, and colleagues to ensure an efficient and responsive housing service.
The role involves handling incoming calls from tenants, raising and scheduling repair requests, supporting housing officers with tenancy management tasks, and assisting with general office and reception duties.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the first point of contact for tenants, dealing with queries and repair requests promptly and professionally.
Log, update, and monitor repair calls using the housing management system.
Liaise with contractors to schedule and confirm works, ensuring appointments are convenient for tenants and completed within target timescales.
Keep tenants informed about the progress of repairs or service requests.
Support Housing Officers with administrative tasks such as tenancy file updates, letters, and data input.
Provide reception/front counter cover, greeting visitors and assisting with face-to-face enquiries.
Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality and data protection at all times.
Carry out general office duties including post, filing, and correspondence.
Skills & Experience Required:
Previous experience working within a housing association, local authority, or similar customer service environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally.
Confident IT skills, including experience with housing or repairs management systems and Microsoft Office.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
A positive, proactive approach to teamwork and service delivery.
Additional Information:
This is a temporary fixed-term role for an initial period of 3 months, with the potential for extension depending on service needs.
The position is office-based, providing support to the Housing and Repairs Teams.
