Decontamination Services Technician Salary: £24,937 – £25,767.50 per annum Contract Type: Permanent Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) Shift Pattern: Rotational shifts (7:00am – 3:00pm or 11:00am – 7:00pm, Monday to Saturday) Role Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Decontamination Services Technician to support the safe and effective reprocessing of reusable medical devices. This role plays a critical part in ensuring patient safety and supporting clinical teams by maintaining high standards of decontamination and infection control. Key Responsibilities Reprocess reusable surgical instruments and flexible endoscopes through all stages: receipt, cleaning, inspection, packing, sterilisation, and dispatch Operate decontamination equipment and carry out routine testing in line with maintenance schedules Maintain full traceability using electronic tracking systems Plan and prioritise workload in collaboration with the team and internal departments Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and quality management systems Report equipment faults, non-conformances, and support investigations when required Communicate effectively with colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives Skills & Experience Required Experience in decontamination of reusable medical devices (desirable) GCSE level education or equivalent NVQ Level 3 / Technical Certificate in Decontamination (or willingness to undertake training) Good IT skills and ability to use electronic tracking systems High level of accuracy and attention to detail Ability to work efficiently in a time-sensitive environment Flexible and adaptable approach to meet service needs Strong teamwork and communication skills What’s on Offer Competitive salary Generous annual leave plus bank holidays Employer pension contributions Life assurance and wellbeing benefits Free parking and subsidised on-site facilities Ongoing training and development opportunities Supportive and team-focused working environment
