Position Overview:
We are seeking an enthusiastic Large Goods Vehicle (LGV) Driver to join our team at Tormitchell Quarry. This role is perfect for someone with a passion for driving and a keen interest in learning more about the construction materials industry. You will be responsible for ensuring our products are delivered efficiently, in accordance with the law and the best interests of the company and our customers. You will place the highest importance on our sustained standards of excellence in all aspects of Health, Safety and Environmental Management. Full training on our products and processes will be provided, ensuring you're well-prepared to meet our high standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Safely operate LGV (Class 2) vehicles in accordance with UK road laws and company policies
2. Perform daily vehicle checks and report any faults or issues
3. Load and unload goods using appropriate manual handling techniques or equipment
4. Deliver concrete, coated asphalt, and aggregates to customers or depots on time, ensuring accurate paperwork and documentation
5. Maintain communication with the Distribution Department regarding delays, issues, or route changes
6. Ensure security of the load during transit
7. Complete delivery logs, timesheets, and any required digital entries accurately
8. Provide excellent customer service and represent the company in a professional manner
9. Ensure all deliveries comply with legal requirements, prioritising the health, safety, and environmental standards of Breedon
10. Contribute to the team by maintaining a flexible approach to working hours, including occasional nights and weekends.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
11. A valid Category C or C+E licence and a current Driver CPC qualification
12. Proven experience as an LGV driver preferred
13. Good knowledge of local road networks and route planning
14. Excellent time management and communication skills
15. Ability to work independently and under pressure
16. A hard-working and positive attitude, with a willingness to learn
17. Flexibility to work variable hours, with the availability for occasional nights and weekends
18. A genuine interest in the construction materials industry and a commitment to continuous personal and professional development.
